During machining, when a metal workpiece is cut by a tool, the inertial force of the tool and machine will act on the workpiece itself.In order to keep the workpiece unmoved during the machining, a larger clamping force must be applied to stabilize the workpiece on the machine and absorb the cutting force to complete the cutting. The device that fixes and clamps the workpiece is called a fixture.

Compared with the fixture for a workpiece, the jig is a tool to guide the workpiece.
Especially when cutting on non-planar surfaces, the jig can position the tool precisely and stabilize the cutting. However, the CNC machining fixture of the machine can omit the guiding function of the tool; only the positioning and clamping functions are available.

Jigs & Fixtures Development and Management



When a new development project begins, Weiyu will carefully review and evaluate the customer's drawing specifications, accuracy, production capacity requirements, and special quality requirements, and conduct APQP on fixtures and fixtures. In order to achieve higher production efficiency through stable clamping, if necessary, we will proactively send DCR (Drawing Change Request) to customers, such as adding clamping points or reinforcing workpieces. The ultimate goal is to design the most suitable fixtures and fixtures for customers based on the most reasonable fixture quotation.

Based on the characteristics of different industries, we use mainstream and leading 3D software to construct fixture models and simulate the actual way of workpiece clamping and positioning. Through this method, we can promptly identify unreasonable designs and issues, effectively shortening the sample submission time. In addition, we can ensure successful samples during the development phase and provide products that meet customer needs during mass production.

After the fixture assembly is completed, our R&D department will conduct quality verification with the customer and quality assurance department, checking the accuracy and functionality one by one, and then issuing a certificate of conformity after passing the inspection. Only qualified fixtures can be used for mold calibration and sample processing operations on the machine. In addition, after processing the samples, we will simultaneously record the test results and immediately begin to calibrate and improve the molds, fixtures, and jigs.

The customer's fixtures and fixtures are assigned unique numbers and storage counters, and undergo annual inventory checks. We are responsible for their safekeeping. In addition, after each use of the fixture, technicians will check each function. If any problems are found, they will immediately carry out repairs to ensure the functionality of the fixture through cleaning, maintenance, and good sealing.
